World Blood Donor Day is celebrated every year to organise and spread awareness all around the world about the importance of blood donations and how one can voluntarily donate blood which is unpaid. The World Health Organisation introduced World Blood Donor Day in 2004 on 14 June. This day is recognised as the way of saving lives by donating blood. By donating the blood, the donor helps the victim who needs blood and with the help of blood transfusion inthe surgeries, life is saved.

The slogan or theme for World Blood Donor Day 2021 is 'Give Blood and keep the world beating'. It highlights the importance of donating blood so as to save the lives of many and how it can be beneficial in improving the health of others. History: World Blood Donor Day
Every year, June 14 is featured as the World Blood Donor Day. This day is known as the birthday anniversary of Karl Landsteiner. In 2004, the World Health Organisation launched and declared 14 June as the World Blood Donor Day. On this day, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Society was introduced with an aim of spreading awareness and educating people regarding the donation of blood by healthy people all around the world and saving lives of many.

Significance of World Blood Donor Day 2021
In Spite of the pandemic all around the world, most of the nation's donors felt an urge to come forward and donate the blood for an individual who is in need of blood transfusion for the surgeries or any other purpose. This extraordinary motivation for donating blood voluntarily and how devoting they are towards this and feel responsible for it. The people come in hand to help those who are in the emergence of blood due to some accidents or other health problems.
