Several days later, the embryo attaches itself to the lining of the uterus in a process called implantation, where further growth and development can occur.
Fertilization is important because it ensures the transfer of genetic information from both parents to the offspring. It also restores the normal chromosome number required for human development. The combination of genes from two parents contributes to the unique characteristics of each individual.
