“Kalank”, star-studded as it is, was one of the most anticipated movies of the month. Yes, it was as anticipated by those who are not Marvel fans as Avengers: Endgame is being anticipated by the Marvel fans. The magnanimous set which is well-shown off in the trailer and songs and the chemistry of Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt was being awaited quite eagerly.

The movie has all the top actors, not just from this era but from the bygone era of the 90s. While Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapoor, and Sonakshi Sinha bring freshness to the screen, Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt infused nostalgia. And not just that, Kunal Khemu appeared as a surprise package in Kalank.

If we talk about the story, it related to the pre-partition era. It is a family drama with a story like that of the movies of the 70s. Sonakshi Sinha, the wife of Aditya Roy Kapoor in the movie, is suffering from cancer and hence wants her husband to marry again before she dies.

Sanjay Dutt is playing the father-in-law of Sonakshi Sinha. Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapoor get married but just like any other Bollywood story, he promises Alia to give all the due respect but no love because he only loves his first wife. So the story is as fictional and away from reality as it can be.
The director of the movie is Abhishek Varman and there is a lot in the movie to criticize from the point of view of direction. Even the VFX in the movie fails to bring some convincing effect on the screen.

Music is not as strong and attractive as the sets. The only good thing about the movie is Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt’s acting, nothing else.
