The question of whether the death penalty should apply to all rape cases is highly debated. Supporters argue that it could act as a strong deterrent and deliver justice for the most brutal crimes, especially in cases involving minors or extreme violence. However, opponents believe that making it mandatory for all cases may lead to misuse of law, false accusations, and pressure on the justice system. They also argue that certainty of punishment is more important than severity. In Indian Penal Code, rape already carries strict punishments including life imprisonment. Many experts suggest balanced, case-by-case sentencing instead of a blanket death penalty rule.

Things are getting out of hands and I do think, there should be some stringent laws for rapists that send chills down to their spine. We all know what happened in "Kathua'', where an eight year old girl raped and brutally murdered.

In my opinion the problem with rapists is that they don't understand how extremely painful it is for the victim. No matter how much a girl tries to stop therape, she cries/begs to let her go, the rapist feels happy, feeling full control over the situation. They fail to see the pain. Women are capable of forgiving big offences, but not this. Women are not violent, but forrape, they want to "hang the rapist" and I think, it is the right demand and recently, the Centre is also trying to impose the death penalty as a punishment for rapists.

We can't impose death penalty for every rape case because in many cases we have seen that sometimes consensual sex termed as "Rape" and you can't hang a man for consensual sex. But in case of children, I am with you, they are the most innocent creatures of God and rapists deserve death penalty for sure.

The Centre told theSupreme Courton Friday that the process to amend the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been launched and the death penalty as a punishment would be given to rapists for raping children under 12.
