Summary of The Battle of Rezang La is an event that took place on November 18, 1962, during the Indo-China war. The battle happened in the Himalayan mountains and was fought between India and China. The battle became famous because it was one of the largest battles to occur since World War II.

In the summer of 1962, a Chinese incursion in Ladakh had been dealt with by securing a mountain pass called Rezang La in October. In November, a larger Chinese force returned to capture this pass with nearly ten thousand troops while being aided with artillery from behind their lines which they had also occupied at some point during that campaign season - thus explaining their victory

in taking "Rezang La".

The key to this success, according to a Chinese general, depended upon "concentrated fire power" and the "complementary actions of artillery, machine guns and mortars." The Second Battle of Rezang La on November 18 was by far the largest battle of the war so far.

The Chinese had been concentrating their firepower on firing from their rear lines which were being covered by artillery from both sides during the battle. In order to put pressure on the Indian forces in the area, India had moved around their defenses and started firing into China that day.

Surprised by this, the Chinese began moving their troops around to face the threat to their rear. They were able to move their troops around behind the lines because they had captured higher ground earlier that allowed them access to both sides of the valley.

The Indian soldiers were given orders by

Major Shaitan Singh which stated that no enemy was allowed to occupy the position above them. The Indians tried several times to retake this position but failed, making it impossible for them to pick off any Chinese soldiers trying to move up through the valley.

At this point, China had sensed victory and sent out messages requesting that India surrender but was denied even an answer. With both sides much too stubborn for this, fighting continued all night long into the next day.

The fighting ended in a standstill with both sides suffering heavy losses. It was the heaviest battle fought by the Indian army during this war. The result of this battle changed the face of Chinese movements in the area for some time, halting them at least until the summer of 1963.

Who won the battle of rezang la?

Rezang La is one of many battles in which Indian forces were defeated by China. India suffered badly during this battle because they had to give up their supplies and food to keep their troops fed out in the field due to problems that they had with transporting their supplies around. This left them starving and weak, allowing the Chinese to easily defeat them with little resistance. The battle of rezang la winner was China at the end.
