It is a matter of practice and self-understanding to create effective communication skills. The following are some of the effective improvements:

  • Active Listening- Learn to listen to other people rather than waiting to speak. Be interested in and seek follow-up questions.
  • Think Before You Speak -Take a moment to sort out. This makes you articulate yourself openly and trustfully.
  • Learn to Expand Your Vocabulary - Reading books, articles and listening to good speakers can also enable you to acquire new ways of conveying ideas.
  • Be brief and to the point - Do not use a lot of words or jargon. Be simple to communicate.
  • Body language practice – do not avoid eye contact, open hands, and friendly voice. Non-verbal communication is as significant as verbal communication.
  • Practice Public Speaking, Toastmasters or standing in front of the mirror or friends to practice speaking.
  • Get Feedback – This is where you need your teachers or your friends or your mentors to give you the honest feedback on what you are doing well or what you are not doing well.
  • Remain Positive and Calm Good communicators remain calm even during challenging discussions. A low voice also promotes confidence and esteem.

You can develop better communication skills by practicing active listening, speaking clearly, maintaining good body language, expanding your vocabulary, and engaging in regular conversations with confidence.
