Pregnancy necessitates the completion of a complex set of biological processes. And, just like our bodies, the process can be unpredictable at times. This is why, following each missing period, doctors must do a pregnancy test to confirm the pregnancy. Unfortunately, due to testing limitations, there is always some ambiguity regarding how many days after your period you will become pregnant.
This can make determining when you're most fertile, which is usually but not always in the middle of your cycle, difficult. If you're on a 28-day cycle, this is approximately day 14. Some women's cycles are naturally shorter, about 21 days. If this describes you, you may be able to conceive during or shortly after your period, however it is unlikely.
