How to make Sprouted Moongdal (green gram) Upma?

Sprouted Moongdal (green gram) Upma is as tasty as it is healthy to eat.


Here’s how it can be prepared:


• Asafetida powder: ½ teaspoon
• Curry leaves: 3-4
• Mustard seeds: ½ tablespoon
• Salt: according to taste
• Red chili (finely chopped): 1
• Green Chili (vertically cut): 1
• Ginger (ground): 1 small piece
• Carrot (chopped in pieces): 1
• Beans (finely chopped): 6-7
• Sprouted Green Gram: 1 cup
• Warm water: 1 cup
• Cooking oil: 1 tablespoon
• Dry Coconut (ground): 2 tablespoons


• Heat oil in a pan.
• Add mustard seeds and green chili in the oil and fry.
• Add ginger, green chili, carrot, and beans, and cook on low flame for 2-4 minutes. Add asafetida powder and curry leaves and stir.
• Add the sprouted green gram and stir thoroughly. Add a cup of warm water in it.
• Add salt, and cover the pan with lid. Let it boil for 5 minutes.
• Boil it until all the water evaporates. Turn the stove off and garnish the Upma with dry coconut.

Enjoy Sprouted Green Gram Upma with tea or ketchup.
