The earth’s core is very hot and processes within the planet's interior causes the earth’s plates to move towards and away from each other. When these plates move towards each other they hit with force and break into pieces to form upward rising land forms higher than the surrounding areas. This movement of plates under the earths surface is known as tectonic shift. Mountains keep changing their size and shapes as years pass on because of the natural weather and climatic changes.

A mountain is a land form that rises high above the surface of the earth in an area. They are made up of rocks and earth.Mountains are formed where earths tectonic plates collide with each other. Since the colliding plates are similar in nature neither one will go under each other and instead they crumple into pieces and the rocks are forced up to form a mountain range. As the plates continue to collide, over the years mountains will keep getting taller. Mountains are finally changed by the erosion due to wind, rain, ice and gravitational force. These natural forces gradually shapes the mountain and changes the exposed surfaces.
