How were mountains formed?

The earth’s core is very hot and processes within the planet's interior causes the earth’s plates to move towards and away from each other. When these plates move towards each other they hit with force and break into pieces to form upward rising land formshigher than the surrounding areas. This movement of plates under the earths surface is known as tectonic shift. Mountains keep changing their size and shapes as years pass on because of the natural weather and climatic changes.
