Man, I hear you loud and clear. It’s honestly wild that Shopify Payments still hasn't rolled out in South Africa yet, especially considering how fast the e-commerce space is growing over there.

I’m based in the US, but I help manage a couple of stores localized for the SA market, and dealing with third-party payment gateways is a massive headache. The biggest bummer is that without Shopify Payments, you're forced to eat those extra transaction fees on top of your gateway's processing rates. It just kills your profit margins, especially when you're first scaling up.

From my experience working with SA-based partners, I know a lot of folks are relying on PayFast or Yoco right now. PayFast is definitely solid and locals trust it, but you still miss out on that seamless, native checkout experience that Shopify Payments gives you.

If you're doing heavy volume, I know a few SA founders who ended up using Stripe Atlas to register a US LLC just so they could get access to Stripe and Shopify Payments. But honestly, that’s a whole lot of legal and tax hoops you shouldn't have to jump through just to run a basic store.

You're definitely not alone in this. A lot of us in the community have been pushing them to expand their supported countries for a while now. Hang in there, and hopefully, they get it together this year!
