What salary you give to a graduate, who is a fresher, depends on many different factors:
• While in government jobs the salaries are pre decided and expected, private firms may vary the salaries of the freshers according to their abilities and percentages.
• While some companies decide the salary of a fresh graduate on the type of institution he/she has studied from or the marks he/she has scored, some companies like to take its chances and look for natural abilities and capabilities in a fresher.
• Usually, IT firms and other private firms like to keep the salaries of freshers minimum because the first year is the year of training where the company itself is putting in a lot of resources in making the fresher a suitable employee.
• Big companies usually don’t go on the marks one has scored but on the extra skills and abilities one might possess. So those graduates who are rather naïve and innocent don’t usually get hired easily and hence can be availed in low salaries, despite their good marks.
• After one year however, the salaries of really good and deserving candidates can be hiked drastically.
So to answer your question directly, under certain circumstances, fresh graduates can be hired in preferably low salaries. This however is not universally applicable as these days universities like Amity, IIT, IIM, etc., ensure good placement with very high packages directly after graduation. But this is true only with IT and engineering students.
Students who opt for traditional courses can’t be hired at very high prices just after graduation.
