Turmeric is good for your health, but it can have different effects on your kidneys. Turmeric has something called curcumin in it, which is good for your body because it fights bad stuff and reduces swelling. This is usually good for your health. But some studies say curcumin might make you pee more, like a mild water pill. For people with kidney problems, this might make their kidney issues worse.

Also, curcumin can mess with certain medicines and how your kidneys work. So, if you have kidney issues or take meds that affect your kidneys, be careful with turmeric or curcumin pills.

If your kidneys are healthy, using some turmeric in your cooking is safe and might even help your health.

Most forum-like health sites and expert articles say that turmeric (haldi) isn’t “bad” for your kidneys when you use it in normal, culinary amounts in food, and its active compound curcumin may even have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits that could help the body overall. However, many discussions also warn that taking high-dose turmeric supplements or very large amounts regularly might raise oxalate levels and increase the risk of kidney stones, especially in people prone to them, and could potentially interact with medications or put extra stress on the kidneys if you already have kidney issues. So people on kidney medications or with a history of kidney stones are often told to be cautious and talk to a healthcare provider before using concentrated turmeric products, but using a pinch in everyday cooking is generally considered safe.
