Bangladesh is said to have approximately 800+ rivers around it. In world rankings, Bangladesh ranks 17th to have the most rivers. All 800 of Bangladesh's rivers are divided into 5 big systems. They are:
- The Padma (also known as the Ganges)
- The Meghna and The Surma river system
- The Jamuna with its other adjoining channels
- The North Bengal rivers
- The rivers of the Chittagong Hill Tracts
