There’s no one right answer—it depends on your situation and feelings.
If staying friends makes you feel calm, respected, and not confused, it can work. This usually happens when both people have truly moved on and there are no leftover romantic feelings.
But if staying in contact makes you overthink, feel hurt, or hold on to hope, it’s better to cut them off, at least for some time. Distance helps you heal and move forward.
A simple rule:
If talking to them brings peace, it’s okay.
If it brings pain or confusion, step back.
Sometimes, taking a break first and deciding later is the healthiest choice.
