It landed India straight into the quarter finals. So yes, we can call India vs. Italy as India’s best performance so far in FIH world cup 2018. It was visible in India’s game yesterday, how hungry it was for this victory after performing badly in India vs. Ireland earlier. It scored 3-0 against Italy.
Partly, the team owes its victory to three players, Lalremsiami –who took an early goal and boosted the spirit of the whole team; Neha Goyal; and Vandana Katariya. TOI tells us that, “It's for the first time since Madrid 1978 that India are among the top eight of a World Cup. They finished seventh 40 years ago”. This indeed makes the match special for Indian Women Hockey Team.
