Ration cards are a type of official document which is provided by the Government of India for the purchasing of subsidized goods. The Department of Food and Civil only provides ration cards to those who are a citizen of the state of Haryana. Ration cards are of 4 types:
- Green Ration Card: The beneficiaries of this type of ration card are those, who are above the poverty lines. This card can specifically be used for commodities like 5 kg of wheat.
- Khaki Ration Card: This card can only be used by Other Priority Households (OPH). Similar to the Green Ration Card, this card too can only be used for 5 kg of wheat.
- Yellow Ration Card: This card is only for the States Below Poverty Line (SBPL) or Centrals Below Poverty Line (CBPL). This card is used for various kinds of commodities like, 2 kg of sugar at Rs. 13.50 per kg, 7 liters of kerosene at Rs. 13.63 per liter and 2.5 kg of pulses at Rs. 20 per kg.
- Pink Ration Card: This is the fourth type of ration card. The beneficiaries of this card are Antodya Anna Yojana (AAY). Similar to the Yellow Ration Card, This card is also used for various kinds commodities like 35 kg of wheat at Rs. 2.00 per kg, 2 kg of sugar at Rs. 13.50 per kg, 7 liters of kerosene at Rs. 13.63 per liter an 2.5 kg of pulses at Rs. 20 per kg.
