There are many off-page SEO techniques. However, not all of them are right, effective and dated in 2019. Moreover, some are better suited to specific niches/industries vs. the others.
So, it’s important that you think things through before implementing any of these techniques.
That said, here are five ways how you should build link and champion off-page SEO techniques for your site:
1. Guest blogging- This is perhaps one of the most ethical and effective ways to get backlinks and drive brand traction. You write for someone else’s blog and hopefully get a doFollow backlink. TIP: Avoid picking unknown, poor-quality sites for guest post. Go for the top names in your industry.

2. Link baiting- Okay, this isn’t easy but it is the best. The idea is simple: you create such a spectacular piece of content for your own blog that others can’t help but link it on their own sites. Why I said it’s “not easy” is because creating such content demands time, effort and a close understanding of what the target audience wants to read. But if you could come up with such content, it can bait you tens and hundreds of backlinks.

3. Link exchanging- This isn’t ethical and search engines advise against it. But then people still do it. You basically find relevant websites in your niche, approach them and agree to exchange links. It’s a pretty simple and straightforward off-page SEO technique where both the involved parties get rewarded.

4. Social media sharing- There’s a never-ending debate if social media sharing helps in SEO or not. But the consensus among experts is that it does. So, you must regularly share your blog posts on social media. You must also encourage visitors to share the content.

5. Forum/comment conversations- This is time-consuming but it assures to build you a good following and brand identity if done right and consistently. You find relevant forums or the comment section of the relevant blogs where there’s an ongoing conversation – and you join that conversation. Talk to people. Exchange ideas. Provide them value. And in those exchanges, build connections and leave the link of your blog wherever it makes sense.
