I am happy that you asked this question as there are not many young minds inclined towards the study of Arts and Humanities these days. Youth today either wants to be an expert in technology or a successful entrepreneur. Those who don’t want these, go for government jobs. The unprecedented invasion of commercialism and technology in our lives and career have decreased the importance of Arts and Humanities to a great deal.

Also, there are many instances when the one making the choice is not the student himself, but his parents. This too is a major factor that number of students studying arts today is not much.
Still those who choose this stream, however few they may be, find a plethora of career options in front of them. If you are a student who has just passed 12th, you can pursue any course of Arts ahead based on your interests. The best thing about Arts is that any one from any stream can pursue a course of arts. He just needs to have enough interest and proficiency.
 
Some of the popular courses that best universities like DU offer in Arts and Humanities are, Honours in various subjects like Political Science, History, Geography, Economics, English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Sociology, Philosophy, Psychology, Law, and so on. After doing any of these courses, you can get enrolled in Masters program and get a MA degree.
 
After that you have a lot of career options like that of an economist, writer, university professor, research scholar, political scientist, journalist, counselor, lawyer, etc. All these jobs are well-paid and satisfactory. It all depends on your own proficiency.
 
Apart from all this, a student of Arts stream can go for administrative services which is the most obvious thing people do. You can also learn different languages like Spanish, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, Persian, etc. and become a translator or get a job in an embassy.
 
 
If god has gifted you any special talent then you may opt for some Fine Arts course and make your career in entertainment industry as well. There are many colleges in India which offer you vocational and part time courses like photography, singing, cinema studies, creative writing, painting, and so on.
 
So to conclude, a student of Arts is a free bird. The world is his oyster and he is the nearest than all the engineers, doctors, and entrepreneurs in making his passion his career.

B.A.– stands for Bachelor of Arts. Course duration is 3 years. The best thing about this course is that so many B.A. specialization courses are available to choose from. A general set of common B.A. subjects are present, in addition to which specialization subjects are also present. Some specialization areas are- B.A. Psychology, B.A. History, B.A.

Archaeology, B.A. Economics, B.A. Journalism and Mass Communication, B.A. English, B.A. Hindi, B.A. Malayalam, B.A. in other languages (state wise), B.A. Sociology, B.A. Politics, B.A. Geography, B.A. Indian Culture, B.A. Social Work etc.

For those who think Humanities and Arts offer minimal career options should understand that the times are changing and thanks to the mentality of our youth, which is changing with the times that new career options in the field of arts are emerging.

The following three of all, are the most sought-after courses one can do after passing 12th. Also, the courses being new, have less competition and high demand.
 
1. Museology
 
If you have an interest in art, artifacts, and relics, you can think of becoming a curator, an archivist, a museum director, or a museum director. Various universities in India offer undergraduate and postgraduate courses in museology. You can also do a post graduate diploma course in the field.
 
You can apply for the courses in Banaras Hindu University, Aligarh Muslim University, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya, Jiwaji University, or National Museum Institute.
 
2. Gender and Women studies 
 
We all are aware of the rise of feminism, the misunderstanding people harbor for this concept, and also the increasing awareness for the LGBTQ community. This new wave of gender and sexuality awareness has created a huge demand for gender specialists, counselors, writers and bloggers who write for gender sensitization, and people who want to work with NGOs and even with the organizations like WHO.
 
For pursuing these career options, you can get undergraduate and postgraduate courses in gender studies, women studies, and feminism.
 
Universities like Indian Institute of Psychology and Research, Ambedkar University, Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development, etc. offer the associated courses.
 
3. Linguist 
 
If you like to learn different languages and have a knack of studying semantics, pragmatics, and structure of languages, you can be a linguist. There is always a demand for linguists in universities, and governmental organizations. Along with this, you can also be a translator and interpreter.
 
The course for Linguistics and Language is available in almost all the central universities.
