What do you mean by extrinsic motivation?

Motivation comes from the word motive which means needs, desires, wants or forces within the human being that drives an individual to do certain things.There are basically two types of motivation intrinsic and Extrinsic movation. Intrinsic means the urge or motivation comes from within for personal needs or gratification. In extrinsic underlying motivation comes from outside which are given by others or comes from ouside factors like competition or monetary gains or positions .
