Perhaps that’s the cost ministers and political leaders have to endure for being accessible to the citizenry? Getting attacked with chili powder, slippers, ink, and slaps…

Certainly, this isn’t something that BJP or Congress leaders will ever understand them.

The attack on a Chief Minister – and at the secretariat, a place that’s supposed to be the safest – is no less than baffling for the spectators; hypocritical for AAP and its supporters. Kept aside the political stance, it’s a lot degrading to morale. A chief minister is not safe from such attacks in a state—how safe are the citizens then? It also underlines the audacity of the attacker. Knowing very well of the consequences, he went ahead with the Chilli powder attack on Arvind Kejriwal.

While nothing is yet revealed as to why the attacked happened in the first place, it’s not hard to guess the political motives behind. This also underlines how a wedge in political beliefs and alignments is sheltering and normalizing such attacks (on either side) in the unnerving silence of the mainstream media.

And not to forget, the even more disturbing part of the whole incident is that after the Chilli powder attack on Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi police suggested (and is investigating) if the attack was “unintentional”.

Their primary logic suggests that the attacker went to touch CM’s feet, chili powder miraculously appeared in his hand, he thought to clean it off by dropping the powder BUT somehow the powder defied the force of gravity and flown on the face of Kejriwal. If that’s really the case, that is some magical chili powder. For that, perhaps Police force shouldn’t be the first one to investigate. They should have rather handed the case to the paranormal team.

The whole incident was unfortunate. And everyone must collectively criticize it, irrespective of their political leanings.
