A/B testing is when you create two versions of the same content and test which one actually performs better. That could mean changing the title, the headline, the image, the audience you're targeting, the location, or pretty much any other element.
It matters a lot in performance marketing because it takes the guesswork out of the equation. Instead of assuming one version will do better, you let data tell you what's actually working.
You don't need to overhaul the whole thing for version two, either. A lot of the time you'll have a hunch that one version is stronger, but you genuinely don't know until you test it.
Say you keep everything the same and just swap the headline. Run both versions side by side and see which one pulls in better engagement or conversions.
That's really the value of A/B testing. It lets you make decisions off real performance instead of a gut feeling.
So instead of saying "I think this version will work better," you test both and let the numbers settle it.
