What is almirah?

Almirah is basically a cabinet used for storage. Generally, the ones made of wood or wooden pulp are more preferable. It is not attached to any wall like closets are. You can see almirah in bedrooms for storing clothes, important files, documents etc. you can see them in the hall displaying artefacts or you can even see it in the kitchen used to keep plates cups and other cutlery. It is also used for the security of gold and other ornaments or for storing cash.

Almirah are the tall piece of furniture which are not fixed to the wall and have several shelves. They are free standing cupboard or wardrobe. The main use of almirah is storing clothes or shoes. They are mainly at the room or the dressing room. Almirah add aesthetic and glamour feel when decor with other furniture in the room. But some people also use it for storing many things other than clothes and shoes.
