An asteroid is one of the most important part of our solar system. It is basically a rock or small objects that used to orbit the Sun. It behaves like a planet and revolves around the sun but it is very smaller from planets. There is a huge number of asteroids. Most of the groups of asteroids are referred to as asteroid belts. These belts are generally found between the planets Mars and Jupiter.Letsdiskuss

Asteroids are gas and dust leftovers from the formation of our solar system  which is estimated to be around 4.6 billion years ago.The Sun and the planets were formed from the gas and dust collapse.Remaining objects which didn’t have the time to form a planet were all scattered in the asteroid belt. They were later classified as the asteroids.
As the asteroids were formed at the same time as other objects in our solar system, scientists can study about the evolution of the solar system and Sun from these rocks.

According to the nebular explanation, the solar system was formed when a giant molecular cloud collapsed. Many stars including the Sun, were formed from this collapsing cloud. Most of the mass gathered together in the center and formed the Sun.The rest of the mass flattened into a rotating disk from which all of the planets, moons, asteroids, and other heavenly bodies in the the Solar System formed. Asteroids are small, rocky objects or debris from the collapse .Asteroids orbit the Sun like planets, but they are smaller than planets. Asteroids aren’t all round like planets. They have sharp edges and irregular shapes.
