The RBI stands for the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is the central banking authority of India and is one of the most important financial institutions in Asia. It was founded in 1935, as a result of alliances between Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Patel and other political leaders. The RBI is responsible for formulating and implementing monetary policy for the Indian economy. It also operates several large financial market infrastructure projects such as the National Securities Depository at Mumbai and Cochin Stock Exchange. There are 2300 employees working with 7 regional offices under it's control base; its headquarters is located at Mumbai (Bombay).
