Maternity is the state of being a mother; the period from conception to birth. It can also be applied to other aspects of life, such as how somebody looks or acts. It refers to the time when a woman is pregnant and gives birth to a child, as well as start having period afterward. Maternity lasts for 26 weeks after the baby is born. For example, in mathematics, an object can have a specific type of form that resembles its own shape rotated 180 degrees. This kind of symmetry is called "maternity".
