What is meteorology?

Meteorology is the study of the weather. Weather is what we feel when in contact with the atmosphere, i.e., water vapor, wind, pressure systems-all of these things that can produce rain, snow or warm winds can be considered a part of meteorology as they are all connected to atmospheric phenomena. Meteorologists try to predict how regular processes like these will respond to changes in other areas such as temperature or precipitation levels and also study the effects that global warming is having on our planet's weather patterns on a local scale. Meteorological studies were first done by Aristotle and were later developed further by Hippocrates-the father of modern medicine-and Carl von Linné (Linnaeus).
