Soil erosion is naturally caused by a calamity. This affects the total landforms of agricultural lands which leads to heavy loss to farmers and as well as to the public. Deforestation is the main cause of soil erosion.

-->Controlling soil erosion by management is generally directed at decreasing wind or water energy by limiting their velocity through decreased soil slope for water and through barriers for intercepting wind and raindrop impact.

-->Soil erosion processes are essentially unchanged and can be managed successfully using established conservation practices so that risks of resuming soil erosion at catastrophic rates are unlikely.

-->Severe drought can limit or prevent vegetative growth, but Chepil and Woodruff (1963) observed that drought was not exclusively responsible for severe wind erosion.

There are different layers of soil. The top most layer accumulates organic matter. As a result, it is the most fertile layer of the soil. This layer provides nutrients to crops for growth. In turn, the extensive root system of plants keeps the topmost layer intact. Due to urbanisation, many trees are cut, and agricultural fields destroyed. Since there is nothing to hold the topmost soil layer, with rainfall the top layer flows away. The loss of topmost fertile soil layer is referred to as soil erosion.

Soil Erosion refers to degradation of soil resources. It has made limited uses of soil. It has reduced it's fertility and quality. It is done by many natural aspects like wind, water, rainfall,etc. There are different parts of soil which becomes unable to be used. Such erosion are;

  • Splash Erosion

  • Sheet Erosion
  • Rill Erosion
  • Gully Erosion
  • Slip Erosion
  • Stream Bank Erosion
  • Sea Shore Erosion

The main causes of soil erosion are Deforestation, Over-grazing, Mining,etc.The problem of erosion can be solved by afforestation, adapting proper technique for mining and Limited grazing.
