Debate and discussion are two terms that are
frequently used interchangeably because many people are unaware of the distinction.

This misunderstanding originates from
misunderstanding of debate, which is frequently characterised as dialogue in which diverse
points of view are expressed.

However, argument and discussion are not the
same thing; there are numerous distinctions
between the two.

The competitiveness of debates is the primary
distinction between debate and discussion.

debate is formal contest of reasoning
between two people or groups, whereas
conversation is an interchange of viewpoints
and ideas.
