The difference between percentage and percentile is pretty straightforward but often confused:

  • Percentage is a value out of 100. For example, if you score 75 marks out of 100 on a test, your percentage is 75%. It’s just a way to represent proportions.

  • Percentile, on the other hand, tells you your relative standing compared to others. For example, if you’re in the 90th percentile, it means you scored better than 90% of people in that group. It’s about ranking, not the actual score.

Think of it this way: Percentage is about your score, while Percentile is about how you compare. Hope that clears it up!
