A college is a smaller institution that mainly offers undergraduate courses and is usually affiliated with a university. A university is a larger institution that provides undergraduate, postgraduate, and research programs and has the authority to grant degrees. Universities also have more facilities and departments compared to colleges.

While Universities, are affiliated to offer a wide range of courses including undergraduate courses, postgraduate courses, M.phil, ph.D, and so on. Universities also host various research scholars which may also be foreign exchange students.
For example, IIT, JNU, DU, Punjab University are the universities of India. Whereas, Hindu College, St. Stephen's College, Zakir Hussain College, and Hansraj College are just colleges affiliated to the University of Delhi.
