As of November 5th, 2018, Pie is the latest version of Android, officially announced on August 6th, 2018.
However, the update hasn’t yet been pushed to anyone. It’s only coming bundled with Google Pixel newly released phones (Pixel 3, Pixel 3XL). Pixel’s previous gen phones, too, have got the Android 9.0 Pie update (Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2XL).

As for non-Pixel phones, seven phone makers will get the latest version of Android by the end of November. It includes Nokia, OnePlus, Sony, Vivo, Xiaomi, and Essential. (Surprisingly, no Samsung).
Even with delays, the regular Android users will have 9.0 Pie entirely by 2018 ends.
The latest version of Android Pie packs a range of exciting features that will certainly make waiting for the update quite bothering. It includes adaptive brightness and battery, enhanced security features, Digital Wellbeing (I am uber excited for this), sound improvements, new gesture navigation, and so much more.

No doubt Pie is one of the most ambitious updates till date that strides ahead by leap and bound from its previous versions.
