As per the 2021 estimates, the population of India was approximately 1.39 billion (139 crore) people, making it the second-most populous country in the world at that time. The population reflected steady growth driven by improving healthcare, higher life expectancy, and a large young demographic.

The population is one of the most significant problems of India. Because as the population increases it will be difficult for authorities and government to bridge the gap between rich and poor. India is a developing country. In a developing country like India, the factors of production and human labour matter a lot. But to how extent we are using that population and a huge human labour force.

Our per capita income should rise like the per capita of the U.S and United Kingdom. The current population of India is 1,389,901,307 as of March 26, 2021, the Survey or the result is based on Worldometer elaboration of the new and latest version of United Nations data.
