Xylazine, often called the zombie drug, is a veterinary sedative now found in street drugs like tranq dope, where it is mixed with fentanyl or heroin. It is dangerous because it causes extreme sedation, slow breathing, and severe skin ulcers that can lead to infections or amputation. Unlike opioids, xylazine does not respond to naloxone, making overdoses harder to treat. Many users don’t know they are taking it, increasing the risk of life-threatening complications and death.
