We are a country of foodies thanks to our diverse culture. So,according to me opening up a café or any food related business for that matter would be a huge success in these times. But there are certain licenses and permissions attached to it which are as follows:

1. As per the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006, FSSAI License Authority ( Food Safety and Standards Authority Of India) makes it mandatory for all eateries in India to obtain a Food Business Operator (FBO) license.

2. The Licensing Police Commissioner of the respective city provides the eating house license. This authority deals with the licensing of – eating houses, hotels, cinema hall, swimming pools, etc.

3. If you are opening a cafe, then you need to consider all the fire safety guidelines so for that you need to submit the application to the Chief Fire Officer to obtain a NOC.

4. Under the Copyright Act of 1957, the individuals who play pre-recorded music in any non-private, business or non-business foundations must acquire a music permit issued by Phonographic Performance Limited(PPL).

5. You need to obtain the Certificate of Environmental Clearance from the EMA for certain projects or activities. You can obtain it from the Ministry of Environment and Forests.

6. You are required to register your restaurant under the Shops and Establishment Act.

7. You will be required to obtain the signage license from local civil authorities.
