Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte for daytime dozes on Thursday made light of his penchant after his office said "power naps" had triggered the gruff leader to skip a number of key conferences at a Singapore summit.

With a string of world leaders including Russia’s Vladimir Putin, Japan’s Shinzo Abe, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and US Vice-President Mike Pence Duterte are attending the annual Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) conference together.

The outspoken leader continues to be well-known at home even as he chases a deadly drug war that has seen countless numbers murdered and horrified western allies.

But he has consistently persuaded theorizing about his health by skipping events or discussing his conditions in public since taking power in 2016.

He suffers from daily migraines and ailments including Buerger's disease, an illness that affects the veins and the arteries of the limbs, and is usually due to smoking Duterte has said previously.

Despite his deadly crackdown on drugs, he also exposed in 2016 that he used to take fentanyl, a highly effective ***** painkiller, because of backbone damage from past slip and fall injuries.

He is the most well-known person ever to be chosen a president in the Philippines, but he is far from the most veteran world leader attending ASEAN.
