In the twentieth century, the world witnessed two world wars that reshaped the political landscape like none other before them. The first one was in 1914, and it began when Serbia assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary. The second was in 1939 and started with Nazi Germany invading Poland under false pretenses. Both events were very costly in human lives over 1 million people died per war but they also led to many advancements of technology.
