In 1971, President Nixon signed a law that established Earth Day as a national holiday commemorating the significance of environmental stewardship. On April 22nd in 1970, he issued a presidential proclamation in which he declared “a day to focus attention on our nation’s need to preserve and protect natural resources.”
The seminal environmentalist David Brower submitted his own draft proclamation with a date of June 5,1970—Earth Day was originally conceived as an annual event to be celebrated every year on this day.

World environment day is celebrated every year on 5th June, 1972 established by United Nations.
The First celebration was done 2 year later on 1974. This day is celebrated to aware people about the damage of the environment due to air pollution , plastic pollution, global warming ,sustainable consumption etc.
This campaign is developed by World health organisation to restore our ecosystem from various damages.
Every year United nation come with different themes and events and every country celebrate it with joy.
