Mayday is known as International workers day. This day is celebrated throughout the world. This day is dedicated to all the hard-working labourers and workers for their constant contribution to every corner of the world. The origin of this day was from the labour union movement in the United States in the 19th century. In 1889, the international socialist congress took a resolution that the workers should not be forced to work more than 8 hours

a day. After that 1st may is celebrated as the labours' day.

In 1890, may 1 was first celebrated as May Day. In India, this is a national holiday. Some places do celebrate this day. In 1923, the first labours' day was celebrated in Chennai. But there is some variation. Like in the US and Canada, they celebrate the first Monday of September as the labours' day.

The date and time may vary. But the observation is constant throughout the world. On this day people celebrate the day by conducting a protest march for the rights of the workers. This day is the day of the workers. This day is meant to celebrate their dedication to work or their contribution to the world, for their immense hardware and to encourage them to be aware of their rights. The day is the witness of the movement that made it sure that workers cannot be forced to work more than 8 hours a day.
