Honestly, from what I’ve seen and heard from seniors, the colleges with the best placements after graduation are usually the top IITs, top IIMs, and a few private institutes like BITS Pilani. Companies trust these colleges a lot, so they visit every year for campus hiring.
1. Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs)
Many people say IITs have the strongest placements in India, especially campuses like:
-
IIT Bombay
-
IIT Delhi
-
IIT Madras
-
IIT Kharagpur
From placement reports, the average packages in top IITs are often around ₹20–35 LPA, and some students even get international offers above ₹1 crore.
My experience:
A senior from my coaching got into IIT Delhi (Computer Science). During placements, companies like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon came to campus. Many students got placed within the first few days of the placement drive.
2. IIMs (for MBA after graduation)
If you do MBA after your degree, IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, and IIM Calcutta are famous for amazing placements.
For example, IIM Ahmedabad often has nearly 100% placement with average salaries around ₹30–36 LPA.
What people say:
Students there often go into consulting, finance, or product management roles with top companies like BCG, McKinsey, and Amazon.
3. Other colleges with very good placements
Even if someone doesn’t get into IIT or IIM, there are still good options like:
-
BITS Pilani
-
IIIT Hyderabad / IIIT Bangalore
-
NIT Trichy
-
VIT Vellore
Some of these colleges have 90%+ placement rates and strong tech company hiring.
My honest opinion:
The “best placement college” really depends on your branch and skills. A student with strong skills from a decent college can still get a great job. But if we talk purely about placement opportunities and salary levels, IITs and top IIMs usually lead in India.
