Mantra is usually referred to a sacred word or group of words chanted during any auspicious occasions like puja, hawan and penance from ancient times. But now a days people are chanting mantras for inner peace, spirituality, getting wealth, maintaining health, strength and everything. Practice of mantra chanting is usually started after you get a guidance from a guru.

But this is 21st century. No rules is necessary for anything. So people are chanting mantras while doing meditation and yoga also. According to scholars and pandits, OM ( ऊँ) is the most powerful mantra in the whole universe. It is believed that our rishis and sages used this OM mantra to prepare themselves for the spiritual state of mind. The OM or AUM’s meaning is very interesting. A defines the creation of our universe, U represents the maintaining or protecting the universe, and M denotes the destruction of the creation. Many ***** were done around the world about the power of ऊँ OM. So it will definitely empower us spiritually.

Another powerful mantra is Gayatri mantra. It is written in Rig Veda. It is defined as a weapon to wake our atma. And by chanting Gayatri Mantra we will get closer to our Brahmam.

Meaning of Gayatri mantra is “We meditate on the glory of creator of our universe, who deserves worships, who is the avatar of knowledge, who destroys our sin and ignorance, May he open our hearts and enlighten our wisdom”.

Gayatri mantra is called as mother of all mantras. Try these two, while following the rules for chanting these mantras.
