Jawahar Lal Nehru was known for his love for children and how he used to see the potential in children and youth of becoming the India’s future. It was this vision of the first prime minister of the independent India, which made his birthday the day of the nation’s children.

As he used to say, “Children are like buds in a garden and should be carefully and lovingly nurtured, as they are the future of the nation and the citizens of tomorrow.”
