In the state male literacy is about 97.4%, while female literacy rate is 95.2%. Kerala is followed by Delhi with a literacy rate of 88.7%. As of the whole India, the literacy rate is about 77.7% in rural areas and 87.7% in urban areas. Delhi is followed by Uttarakhand which has a literacy rate of 87.6%.
