1. John Wright: He became the first foreigner to coach the Indian team, at the same time India got a glorious captain in Sourav Ganguly in 2000. Wright’s mentorship, and his relationship with the captain achieved many a great victories for India overseas.

2. Gary Kristen: He came to mentor the Indian team after the exit of India from 2007 World Cup, which followed the resignation of Greg Chapell as the Indian coach. He was the reason behind the rise of young players like Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma.

3. Anil Kumble: For Kumble, only a year was enough to make India perform magnanimously under his tutelage. India won each and every test series it played at home while Anil Kumble was the coach.



4. Duncan Fletcher: He joined after Gary Kristen, as India won the 2011 World Cup. He polished Indian players, even if that meant many rough defeats along with some victories.

5. Ajit Wadekar: Former Indian captain, Ajit Wadekar, was India’s first full-time coach who tutored the team in 22 Tests and 71 ODIs. In ODIs, India won 41 of the 71 ODIs in which Wadekar coached them, reaching the semi-finals of the 1996 World Cup in the process, according to the reports.
