Who first wrote ramayan?

Aadikavi Valmiki was the first one to write Ramayan. Ramayan was written in the 5th Century BCE while Lord Rama was still ruling Ayodhya. Valmiki was teaching Ramayan to Lord's sons, Luva and Kush. He wrote Ramayan at Valmiki Ashram Temple. It was written in the Sanskrit language. Ramayan describes the whole life of Lord Rama. The present form of Ramayan is divided into 7 books.

There are two stories to the writer of Ramayana.It is said that Hanumanji first wrote the Ramayana with his nails on the mountains but when Hanumanji came to know about Valmiki Ramayana, Hanumanji threw the mountain into the ocean as he thought that no one will read the Ramayana by Valmiki who was also a Ram Bhakt..According to this myth HanumanJi wrote Ramayana first but the Ramayana which was published first was by Valmikiji.It is said that even sages couldn’ read the language in which Ramayana was written by Hanumanji on the rocks with his nails.Thus Valmiki Ramayan became famous as an epic.
