The first Nobel Prize winner from India was Rabindranath Tagore. Rabindranath Tagore was a renowned Bengali poet, writer, philosopher, musician, and artist. He won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913 for his collection of poems and songs called "Gitanjali". Tagore was a Bengali polymath who was not only a poet and writer, but also a philosopher, musician, and painter. He was the first Asian to win the Nobel Prize in any category, and his win was a source of great pride for India and the Bengali community.
