Mayank Markande is a young Indian leg-spinner who has made a name for himself in recent years with his impressive performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and for the Indian national team. He was born on November 11, 1997, in Bathinda, Punjab, and started playing cricket at a young age. He was initially a medium pacer, but switched to leg-spin after his coach identified his potential in that discipline.
Markande made his IPL debut in 2018 for the Mumbai Indians, and immediately made an impact with his wicket-taking ability. He finished his debut season with 15 wickets in 14 matches, and was one of the key contributors to Mumbai's title win. His performances in the IPL also earned him a call-up to the Indian national team, and he made his international debut in February 2019 against Australia.
Markande is a classic leg-spinner who bowls with a lot of flight and turn. He is also a skilled googly bowler, and can bamboozle the batsmen with his variations. He is a particularly dangerous bowler in the middle overs, where he can pick up wickets by getting the batsmen to mistime their shots.
Markande has had a mixed bag of results in recent years. He has struggled with injuries at times, and his form has also been inconsistent. However, he remains a highly talented bowler with a lot of potential. He is currently playing for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL, and will be hoping to make a strong comeback to the Indian national team.
