Shubman Gill is a super skilled cricket player who comes from Punjab. He started playing cricket on his farm, and then his dad moved them to Mohali so Shubman could join the Punjab Cricket Association. He began his pro cricket journey playing for Punjab when he was just 16.
In 2017, Shubman Gill had his first big game for Punjab, and later that same year, he played in the Ranji Trophy. In his very first important match, he scored an excellent 63 runs and then got his first hundred in the next game. His great performance at both the Under-16 level and with the senior team got him a spot in India's Under-19 team.
Gill really caught everyone's attention when he scored a whopping 372 runs at an average of 124 in the Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand. He was a major player in helping India win the trophy. Because of all his amazing play as a young player, he got his first contract in the Indian T20 League with Kolkata in 2018. After four successful seasons with them, he moved to Gujarat in 2022 for a big sum.
In 2019, Gill was chosen for India's 50-over team for their tour to New Zealand. He made his big debut in the fourth ODI. Then, in December 2020, he got to play his first Test match against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. In the fourth Test, he played incredibly well and scored an amazing 91 at the Gabba, helping India win the Test and the historic series Down Under.
