The study of economics is, by definition, the study of how humans use scarce resources to satisfy their unlimited wants. Generally most people believe that the fathers of economics is Adam Smith. Virtually all economists decades ago were "classical liberals" before the term became a swear word among leftist academics. The great majority who have thrived in this field have been supporters of free trade and limited government intervention — though not all to the same degrees and not without qualification.
