- Jawaharlal Nehru was the first prime minister of India.He was born on 14 November 1889, Prayagraj.Jawaharlal Nehru ruled India from 15 August 1946 to 27 May 1964.Nehru suffered a serious stroke in early 1964.He woke early the next morning and after complaining of a pain in his back, suffered a stroke and fell unconscious and soon passed away.
