In the IPL 2025 auction, he was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for ₹27 crore, which is the highest price ever paid for a player in IPL history.

Before Rishabh Pant, the record was held by Mitchell Starc, who was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for ₹24.75 crore in the 2024 auction.
